Salary
$150k+ DOE and location, plus annual bonus

One of the busier substation practices in US power engineering is hiring an experienced engineer to run point on high-voltage design and EPC assignments through 765kV, including a growing slate of data centre and renewables-interconnection work.

765kV substation work only happens at a handful of firms, and this is one of them. The group's book has grown well past the core utility portfolio into some of the largest data centre and renewables-integration programs on the market right now, so the variety on offer is real.

Responsibilities

  • Own substation assignments end to end as either technical specialist or project lead, across voltage classes up to 765kV
  • Produce protection and control drawings, including relay logic, panel arrangements, and single-line/three-line schematics with associated AC/DC wiring
  • Cover physical design scope: site and yard arrangement, grounding grid design, lightning shielding, and control building and auxiliary power layout
  • Run supporting engineering calculations and lead quality review on finished design packages
  • Coach less experienced engineers and contribute to proposal writing and business development

Requirements

  • 11+ years designing substations, engineering degree required
  • Solid grounding in high-voltage physical layout and/or protection & control design
  • Track record owning schedules, budgets, and client relationships on assigned work
  • PE license strongly preferred

Benefits

  • A recognised specialist or project-lead track at the top of the voltage scale
  • Full medical, dental, and vision coverage, employer-matched retirement, and tuition reimbursement
  • An annual performance bonus on top of base pay
  • Paid time off, and a flexible hybrid schedule after your first 90 days
  • The backing of a Top-10 nationally ranked ENR power engineering firm
