Role detail
What the search involves.
A top-ranked power engineering consultancy is hiring a senior project engineering manager to lead multidiscipline substation project teams across a growing portfolio of design and EPC work, including newer data centre and renewables-integration programs.
This is one of the busiest substation practices in the country right now, with genuine momentum into data centre and renewables-integration work on top of the core utility book. It's a leadership seat with enough scale behind it to still be interesting five years from now.
Responsibilities
- Lead multidiscipline engineering and technical teams delivering substation and switchyard projects for investor-owned utility clients
- Own project budget, schedule, and quality across design-services and EPC engagements
- Act as engineering lead of record, coordinating design disciplines and reviewing team output
- Serve as the client's primary technical point of contact, supporting proposals and business development
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in engineering plus 11+ years in utility substation project delivery
- Strong grasp of substation layout, protection & controls, and civil/structural coordination across the full project lifecycle
- Track record managing EPC or design-services substation projects for investor-owned utilities in the US
- Confident client-facing communicator, comfortable driving business-development conversations
Benefits
- A real step from senior engineer into practice and technical leadership, not a title change
- Full medical, dental, and vision coverage, employer-matched retirement, and tuition reimbursement
- An annual performance bonus on top of base pay
- Paid time off, and a flexible hybrid schedule after your first 90 days
- The backing of a Top-10 nationally ranked ENR power engineering firm
